Home of the Diablo II Guild

Welcome

It's dark. Pitch black. Your eyes see well enough only to make out the shadow of a torch hanging on the wall, which is covered with mold and grime. You grasp the slimy wood and fish for your flint in your bag, wondering all the while... "Will it light?"

It lights, though after it has, you wish it had not. The walls are graced with the fallen bodies of warriors young and old, blood carpets the floor. You can feel your stomach turn at the first sight of these decaying corpses, which are littered with maggots and other decomposers. Gathering your courage, you continue forward into the twisting paths of the labyrinth.

You make it through to what seems to be the end. The only thing in front of you is a door. It is olive wood adorned with ancient runic symbols. The mere sight of them incites a quiet hum in your mind. It grows louder and you begin to forget about the door. As the pitch and loudness increase, your eyes roll back into your skull, when finally, you collapse.

You wake up. Perhaps it is minutes later. Perhaps weeks. You gather yourself and look up to realize you are not alone. There is another man in the room. At least it's another being. It speaks with a voice chilling enough to send a shiver down the spine of the night's fiercest predators.

We've been waiting for you.

We? You look to your left. Your right. Slowly you realize that you are not alone with the cloaked being that spoke to you. You seem to be standing now in the front of an entire congregation of cloaked beings. The hum begins again.

Now is the time to make a choice. You may choose to join us in our battle, or you may choose to take the darker path. Either way, you will see us again. It's up to you how pleasant you want the meeting to be.

You pause. Feeling highly intimidated, you manage to force out a response that indicates you will join them, even though you know not their goals or intentions. You somehow feel these details will be provided to you later.

The leader of the cloaked ones smiles. The hum comes back. Once again you faint.

Was it a dream? What have you committed yourself to? You decide. But remember what the leader said: No matter what you choose, you will be meeting us again.
